Hi @Zvan,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Envy x360 laptop is having issues with powering on and is stuck on a black screen, even though the power cable is plugged in and a white light is showing. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot this issue.
Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the power cable.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power from the laptop.
- Reconnect the power cable and try turning on the laptop again.
Check for Display Issues:
- Try connecting your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI cable to see if the display is working.
- If the external monitor works, there might be an issue with your laptop’s display.
Check the Battery:
- Ensure the battery is properly seated by removing it (if possible) and reinserting it.
- If your laptop has a removable battery, try powering it on with just the AC adapter connected.
Reset BIOS:
- Power off the laptop and press the "Windows" key + "B" simultaneously, then press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds.
- Release the power button while continuing to hold the "Windows" + "B" keys. This will initiate a BIOS recovery.
Inspect the Power Adapter:
- Ensure the power adapter is working properly by testing it with another compatible device or using a different adapter if available.
Check the Caps Lock Key:
- If the Caps Lock key blinks, count the number of blinks. It might be an indicator of a specific error code.
Inspect for Loose Connections:
- If you feel comfortable, open the laptop and check if any internal cables, especially the keyboard ribbon cable, are loose or disconnected.
Perform a CMOS Reset (if applicable):
- Some laptops have a small battery (CMOS battery) that can be removed to reset the BIOS. Removing it for a few minutes and then reinserting it can sometimes fix power issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
