Hi @emoonde,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

To fix "The account is currently locked out" error on your HP AIO, wait 30–60 minutes for the automatic unlock, as it is a security lockout from failed login attempts. If this fails, restart the computer to allow it to reconnect to the network, or try the safe mode to unlock the user account.

Immediate Troubleshooting Steps

  • Wait and Retry: The account is typically locked temporarily (around 30–60 minutes) due to multiple incorrect password attempts. Let the computer sit for an hour and try again.

  • Restart the Computer: A full shutdown and restart on your HP AIO can resolve the issue if it was caused by a temporary network issue.

  • Check Keyboard/Num Lock: Ensure your keyboard is functioning properly and that the Num Lock/Caps Lock keys are not affecting the password entry.

    Advanced Troubleshooting (If still locked)

  • Use Another Account: If there is another Administrator account on the HP AIO, log in with that to unlock your main account via Computer Management > Local Users and Groups.

  • Safe Mode with Networking:

    1. On the sign-in screen, hold the Shift key and click Power > Restart.

    2. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.

    3. Select Safe Mode with Networking.

    4. Attempt to log in. If successful, you may need to reset your password or change account policies.

  • Reset via Command Prompt:

    1. Access the Recovery Environment by interrupting the boot process (power off while loading) three times, or via the Shift+Restart method mentioned above.

    2. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt.

    3. Type net user "YourAccountName" /active:yes to unlock.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
