Hi @WendySG,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your laptop is showing “Boot device not found” after screen blinking issues and unusual behavior. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Power cycle the laptop
Turn off the laptop completely and unplug it from power. If it has a removable battery, remove it, wait 30–60 seconds, then reinsert the battery and power on. This can reset temporary hardware glitches.

Check BIOS/UEFI detection
Immediately after powering on, press Esc, F2, F10, or Del (depending on your model) to enter BIOS/UEFI. Check if your storage drive (HDD/SSD) is detected. If the drive is missing, the laptop cannot boot.

Check boot order
In BIOS, make sure the internal storage drive is set as the first boot device. Sometimes the boot order changes after a hardware glitch.

Reseat the storage drive
If you are comfortable opening the laptop, power off, unplug, and carefully remove and reconnect the SSD/HDD. Loose connections can cause the system to fail to detect the drive.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
On power-up, press Esc then F2 to run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics. Run the storage drive test to check if the drive is failing.

Attempt a recovery
If the drive is detected but Windows won’t boot, you may need to use a Windows recovery USB to repair the boot sector or perform a system restore.

I hope this helps.
