I have a HP stream 14 laptop intel celeron N4000

Ive had the laptop for 2 years but only now started using it everyday the pass 7 month-ish not counting.

Hello so, ill get right into it.

Before  it stopped working my laptop shutdown by itself and wouldn’t charge even though my charger was in a known outlet. Only sign was the charging LED, which was blinking 3 short and 3 long. Im not a techy person so I searched it up and did Win+Ctrl+Shift+B. Didnt work after leaving it for a day. I noticed that the charging LED was now 3 short. I did hard reset also didnt work. This all happened in a about 3-4 day span so im sure I didnt rush. Thank you.

Hi @Gumi_,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a hardware issue, possibly related to the battery or charging system. Here are some steps you can try to diagnose and hopefully resolve the problem.

Check the Charger and Cable: Make sure the charger and cable are in good condition. If possible, try using a different charger that is compatible with your HP Stream 14.

Inspect the Charging Port: Check if the charging port on your laptop is loose or damaged. Sometimes debris can also cause issues, so make sure it's clean.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • For laptops with a removable battery: Remove the battery and disconnect the charger. Hold down the power button for about 15-30 seconds, then reconnect the battery and charger and try turning it on.
  • For laptops with a non-removable battery: Disconnect the charger and hold down the power button for about 15-30 seconds. After that, reconnect the charger and try turning it on.

Check the Battery: If the battery is removable, take it out and see if the laptop powers on when plugged in without the battery. If it does, the battery might be the issue.

Try Safe Mode: If the laptop shows any signs of powering on but doesn't boot up properly, try accessing Safe Mode. This might help in troubleshooting if there's a software issue involved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
