HP Spectre x360 - 13-aw0276tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP spectre x360 13 suddenly not working. I was still normally using it the night before, but the next day I couldn't turn on the laptop. I thought it was out of battery, but even when the battery is full (as shown by the white LED power light), I still couldn't turn on the laptop. The LED light at the power button switched on for like 2 seconds then switched back off, and the laptop screen did not show anything at all.

Hi @sl127,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Spectre x360 is experiencing a power issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to get your laptop to turn on.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power adapter.
  • Remove the battery (if it's removable; if not, just proceed without this step).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery (if removed) and plug in the power adapter.
  • Try turning on the laptop again.

Check the Power Adapter:

  • Ensure that the power adapter is plugged in properly and that the LED light on the adapter (if any) is on.
  • If you have access to another compatible power adapter, try using it to rule out issues with the original adapter.

Connect to an External Display:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI or DisplayPort. This can help determine if the laptop is powering on but the screen is not displaying anything.

Inspect the Power Button:

  • Ensure that the power button is not stuck or damaged. Try pressing it multiple times or using a different method (if your model has a different way to power on).

Check for Overheating:

  • If the laptop was used heavily before it stopped working, it might have overheated. Allow it to cool down for at least 15-30 minutes before trying to turn it on again.

Look for Signs of Life:

  • Listen for any sounds (fans, beeps) when you press the power button, and watch for any LED indicators that might flash.

Boot into Safe Mode (if possible):

  • If the laptop shows any signs of life, try booting it into Safe Mode. This can often resolve issues caused by software conflicts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
