Hi  @Pigdoc

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out.

I understand your HP desktop is currently stopping at a black screen with the HP logo displayed in the center. I know how important it is to get your system back up and running, and I'll be glad to help.

To better understand the situation, could you kindly provide:

  • Does the HP logo remain on the screen indefinitely, or does the system eventually restart on its own?
  • Do you hear any fan noise, beeps, or see any blinking LED lights (Power, Caps Lock, etc.)?
  • Are any external devices connected, such as USB drives, printers, docking stations, or external hard drives?

In the meantime, kindly try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Perform a Hard Reset  - Click here for steps
    • Turn off the computer completely.
    • Disconnect the power cable.
    • Remove all external USB devices except the keyboard and mouse.
    • Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power cable and turn the computer on.
  2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics  - Click here for steps
    • Turn on the PC and repeatedly tap the F2 key.
    • If HP Hardware Diagnostics opens, run:
      • System Tests > Quick Test
      • Memory Test
      • Storage/Hard Drive Test
    • Kindly share the results if any test reports an error.
  3. Check for BIOS Recovery - Click here for steps
    • Turn the PC off.
    • Press and hold Windows + B.
    • While holding these keys, press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds, then release the Power button while continuing to hold Windows + B for a few more seconds.
    • If the BIOS Recovery screen appears, follow the prompts.

I hope this helps.
