I am looking to flash the BIOS on Compaq 8200 Elite MT. I already tried the HP site under software and drivers. I found it for Widnows 8, but not 10. I did try the Windows 8 download, but i got a message saying that this application doesn't work for this pc. The motherboard is Hewlett-Packard 1495, OS is Windows 10 64bit. I need the latest version, V5. I am currently running V2.
Thanks,
Kara

Hi, Kara:
The file under the W8 driver page is not a BIOS update. It is just a BIOS utility, and you don't need it.
I have two 8200 Elite CMT's running on W10, and flashed the BIOS to v2.28.
DO NOT flash the BIOS to v2.29 or the PC will take 2-3 minutes to boot up after a restart.
See this discussion...glad I saw it before I went to update the BIOS from 2.28 to 2.29!
So, if you are already at v2.28, leave it be.
If you are not, and want to upgrade the BIOS...You are going to do the update in DOS, so it won't matter what OS you are running.
v02.28 Rev.A | 17.2 MB | May 08, 2015 | Download |
Get a reliable USB flash drive. Format it with the FAT 32 file system.
Download and run the v2.28 bios file. An information page will open.
Follow the instructions for the F10 Flash System ROM method.
Click on the Vew Contents of the DOS Flash Folder.
Copy the file contents of the DOS flash folder to your USB flash drive.
Restart the PC. Tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.
Select the F10 system setup option.
On the file tab, select the Flash System ROM command.
Select the USB flash drive.
The PC should now see the BIOS update files on the flash drive.
Follow the on screen instructions to update the BIOS.

I had the same error. Solution: You need to update the BIOS of your PC.
Tried everything as suggested, deleting partitions using DISKPART, "BCDBoot C:\Windows", Disabling UFI with F5 - no luck.
There is a new 2018 BIOS update available for the HP8200.
The 2011 BIOS will not work, period.
Install Windows 7 on the machine in question and run the BIOS update, then Install Windows 10 - this works.
You don't need a Win7 key, just skip the screen where it asks for the key.
(Or save the BIOS to USB and update via the BIOS itself)
You can get the BIOS update here:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/closure/hp-compaq-8200-elite-ultra-slim-pc/5037958
It extracts to C:\swsetup\sp85518
Run C:\swsetup\sp85518\HPQFlash\HPQFlash.exe in Windows 7 on the PC you want to update.
Then install Windows 10. Choose Custom. Delete the Windows 7 partitions, and away you go.
