Hi @6622
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Sorry to hear about the internet connection issue! Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to help you get back online:
1. Check the Physical Connections
- Router: Make sure your router is powered on. If it’s a wireless router, ensure the Wi-Fi indicator lights are on.
- Modem: If you have a separate modem, check that it's also powered on and functioning. If you have a cable or DSL modem, look for any status lights that indicate issues.
2. Restart Your Router and Modem
- Power cycle the router: Unplug the power cable from both the router and modem (if separate).
- Wait for 30 seconds to a minute.
- Plug them back in, first the modem, then the router. Wait for them to fully restart (this can take a couple of minutes).
- Try reconnecting to the internet.
3. Check Your Device’s Wi-Fi
- Ensure that Wi-Fi is turned on on your device (laptop, phone, etc.).
- Try disconnecting from your Wi-Fi network, then reconnecting.
- If using an Ethernet cable, make sure the cable is securely plugged into both your device and the router/modem.
4. Restart Your Device
- Sometimes, simply restarting your computer or device can fix connection issues.
5. Check for Internet Service Outages
- Contact your internet service provider (ISP) to check if there’s a service outage in your area.
- You can also use a service like DownDetector to see if others are experiencing similar issues with your ISP.
6. Forget and Reconnect to the Wi-Fi Network
If your device can’t connect to Wi-Fi:
- Go to your Wi-Fi settings, forget the current network, and then try reconnecting by entering the password again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
