HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Small Form Factor PC (ENERGY STAR)
Linux

Hello,

I recently added an M.2 NVME SSD to my HP EliteDesk 800 G1, and the drive does not show up in the boot menu. The drive is inserted into an X4PCIEXP slot via an adapter card (though the problem persists if it is moved to an X16 slot).

I have checked for firmware updates on this drive, and it is up-to-date. I know that the drive is in good condition, as it has been a daily driver for some time. The drive is detected by and fully accessible to other drives within the PC and currently has the latest version of linux mint installed (Linux Mint 21.2 _Victoria). The drive is set up for UEFI boot and is formatted with a GPT partition table.

USB boot drives and SATA boot drives show up fine in the boot menu and boot properly, so I suspect that this is an issue with the BIOS not detecting the M.2 NVME drive or not wanting to boot from the PCIEXP slots.

If drivers or BIOS updates must be installed, I will require a method that does not rely on the machine having a drive with Windows installed, though I do have access to a Windows 11 computer if the drivers simply need to be downloaded via Windows.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
