Hi, today when I started up my PC it started an update to the BIOS, and after rebooting the error PUMP SPEED(90b) appeared on the screen (I do not have any pumps just fans) and it gave me 15 seconds to choose to turn on the computer by pressing enter. I tried updating another time the bios, I tried cleaning the fans from dust, i i tried a power reset but nothing. The error screen still appears. So I tried monitoring the CPU temperature and fan speed, since I found that the 90b error comes related to the CPU fan, but the CPU didn't go over 49 C°, and the fan averaged 1040 rpm. What can I do?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • When was the last time it worked fine?
  • Have you made any hardware/software changes?

This message indicates that the system fan is not spinning at the expected speed. This message occurs to help prevent costly damage to the computer.

To fix this error, use the following steps:

  1. Press Enter to clear the message and allow the system to boot to the Windows Desktop.
  2. Shut down the computer, and then inspect and clean the exterior vents to remove dust buildup by blowing air through the vent openings. Dust can accumulate inside the vent openings and around internal cooling components, preventing the removal of heat.

For more information on reducing heat inside your computer, see Reducing Heat Inside the PC.

  1. After you remove the dust, turn on the computer. If the error message persists, continue with these steps.
  2. Perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset can reset recorded thermal values in memory and enable you to use the computer again, even if only for a short time to access and save any important files before service.

For more information on performing a hard reset, see Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I changed the ram to two sticks of corsair vengeance 8gb 2400mhz, I also tried cleaning the fan from dust and the hard reset but nothing worked.

My pc crashed two times (blue screen with the error WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR) from when I posted this thread, so I've sent it to a technician to prevent any more damage.

Today my pc has returned, and the fan was my last problem: on the process of analysing my computer the technic found a malfunction im my hard drive, and that was the cause to the two bluescreens,so i had to replace it. As for the fan it resulted that it has nothing wrong, but the sensor on my motherboard that monitors the speed of the cpu fan has some malfunction and i'll have to ignore the error message at the startup. If you can give me some solution to skip the error message it could be fantastic.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.

While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
