Hi:
Your notebook comes with 2 x 4 GB of memory.
One of the chips has failed and needs to be replaced.
Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the memory removal and replacement procedure.
Maintenance and Service Guide HP Pavilion Gaming 15 Laptop PC
You will have to remove one of the memory chips and test each one at a time to see which one is no good.
Or you may want to decide since you have to replace one memory chip, to take the opportunity to upgrade the notebook's memory to 2 x 8 GB or 2 x 16 GB memory, since chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that 32 GB of memory is supported.
Suggested replacement memory:
16 GB:
Crucial 16GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT16G4SFD824A | Crucial.com
8 GB:
Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT8G4SFS824A | Crucial.com
4 GB:
Crucial 4GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT4G4SFS824A | Crucial.com
You can see that the 8 GB memory chip is only a few USD more than the 4 GB chip.
