HP Pavilion 500-217c Desktop PC

The desktop powers up the CPU fan and front light, but no video and no boot from what I can tell. Is there an external video card recommendation to help with troubleshooting? If so, does the GPU on board the CPU need to be defeated? Also, the -12vfc to pin 13 on the PS1 connector is empty, and no wire from the Power Supply, Any insight here?

Are you not even getting the HP logo on the screen?

IF this is an external screen connected with a video cable to the base unit, then you need to swap in a different screen and different cable just to rule them out.  If there is still no video then, my guess would be that the integrated chip has gone out.

As to having to disable it, I don't know. With the really old PCs I used to service, the answer was always YES.  But with the more modern ones, the answer is NO.  These new ones are able to swich video automatically when an add-in video card is inserted.
