HP EliteBook 820 G3 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP EliteBook 820 G3 laptop. Previously, I had this laptop repaired at a service center. After the repair, the laptop frequently experienced blue screens. Then, after some time, the laptop completely died and wouldn't turn on. When I tried to turn it on, the laptop would power on, off, on, off, on, and then turn off again. This kept repeating. I decided to open the laptop to see what was wrong. I found an 8GB RAM installed in the slot, and I saw that the RAM frequency was 2666MHz, whereas it should be 2133MHz according to the laptop’s specifications. So, I bought new RAM that matched the laptop's specifications. However, the laptop started beeping several times, as if the RAM was not detected. When I tried using the old RAM again, the laptop didn’t beep, but it kept turning on and off. What is the solution?

Take the original memory out clean the contact edges, use an air duster on the motherboard put the memory back in.

  • Turn on the computer by holding the power button down for 20 full seconds then release.
  • Press the Power button one more time (if necessary) to start the computer.
  • Tap the ESC key about once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash.
  • Press F2 to run diagnostics: (v) 2.6 or later is recommended.

Makes sure you can pass the memory and disk test. If you cannot run the diagnostics or a component fails the you have a hardware problem.

Let me know if you can pass diagnostics.
