My HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-2234 will not turn on. I simply turned it off yesterday to move my office to another room. Pluged it back up and it will not come on. No power light nothing. I've checked the power cable, unhooked everything again and still nothing. Any ideas?

Truly need your help.

@MtnMan143,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

According to the specs, your HP Pavilion TP01-2234 (318G6AA) as fitted with the Erica6 motherboard (SSID: 8906) is likely equipped with a 180-watt power supply.  This power supply, in my opinion at least, is underpowering your PC -more about that in a moment.

In any regards, I'm sorry you're having trouble getting your HP Pavilion TP01-2234 to power on after moving it. Since there's no power light or response at all, here are a few steps to help isolate the issue:

1. Check Power at the Wall Outlet:

  • This may be redundant, but please confirm the wall outlet is actually working by plugging in another device (such as a lamp or smartphone charger).

  • If using a power strip or surge protector, try plugging the PC directly into the wall outlet to eliminate a faulty strip.

2. Perform a Basic Power Reset:

  • Unplug the power cable from the desktop and wall outlet.

  • Press and hold the power button on your PC for 15–20 seconds to discharge any residual power.

  • Plug the power cable back in and try turning the PC on again.

3. Inspect the Power Cable and PSU:

  • Make sure the power cable is firmly seated in the back of the PC and has no visible damage.

  • Try using a different, known-good power cable (standard IEC C13 power cord) if available.

4. Look for Internal Signs:

If you’re comfortable opening the side panel:

  • Check if the motherboard has any LED indicators lit (some HP desktops have a small green LED near the power connector) -if so, let me know what you see.

  • Verify all internal power and data connectors are secure (power supply cables, SATA data, etc.).

5. Possible Power Supply Issue:

If there’s absolutely no response (no fan spin, no lights, no sounds), your power supply unit (PSU) may have failed -this is something that is known to happen during a move if something got jostled, bumped or shorted.

If you're under warranty (unlikely, but I have to mention it), I would recommend contacting HP Support directly for service or a replacement PSU.

If you're out of warranty and feel confident, I would strongly recommend replacing your power supply with at least a 310-watt power supply, with p/n: L89232-001 / L64961-800 / L10875-800.  You can purchase such a power supply via eBay or Amazon.

Better still -especially if you are planning to upgrade to a graphics card, there is a compatible 400-watt power supply with p/n: L69242-800, and even a 500-watt power supply with p/n: L89233-001 / L81009-800 / L77487-001 / L77487-003.

Replacing a power supply is very easy.

Hope this helps getting your system running again!

Kind Regards,
