I recently got a laptop from someone as a gift. It still had their personal stuff and apps so I wanted to do a complete wipe and reset to factory. Now the laptops charger is a bit sensitive so if you move it at all it will come undone. The battery is also basically broken so it doesn’t hold a charge. So if the charger comes undone my laptop turns off completely. Now I tried to do the reset and everything was going fine but my charger came undone. I then had to do it again, I got to around 9% on the reset and it got unplugged again. When I stride to do it again my computer started to loop on the repair screen and then go black. I tried all of the keys f11,f2,f12,f9,f8,f6 and so on. When it originally was working it would always open with system requirements which is f1. I don’t hit the button it just opens automatically. The keyboard doesn’t work so I have one plugged in by usb. Could any of these factors be why the keys aren’t working? Also, how can I fix the loop if I can’t get to a menu? Can anyone help me?

Sounds like you've broken the reset process after too many unscheduled hard resets.
If there is a HP recovery partition on the HDD, you access it via F11 when booting the laptop.
My advice is to start tapping ESC just before you turn it on, that way you'll definitely not miss the window.
Once the blue menu comes up after hitting ESC, tap F11 for system recovery. You may have to click through Advanced and HP System Restore.
If that works, great. Otherwise, you can try to download / create recovery media from here:

Or you can even create a Windows 10 bootable USB stick (just google windows 10 iso)
Since your unit came with Windows 8.1, you can still load Win10 on it for no additional cost.
