HP Pavilion 23.8 inch All-in-One Desktop PC 24-k1000i (1T5M0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My all-in-one desktop computer keeps freezing up. It may happen after 10 minutes or hours of non-use. At that point, all I can do is reboot. I've run the HP diagnostics, but they say all is well. Do you have any ideas? Thanks.

Greetings @joev7

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Is your PC in Warranty?

This is a tough one to troubleshoot. Your PC is not providing any clues to assist in solving the problem.

Good call running HP Diagnostics.

A failing external power brick can cause this symptom. I would also guess you might see a "unexpected PC shutdown" error in Windows Event Viewer every time this event happens.

A different hardware problem or hardware driver/system file problem could also cause this symptom.

Only connect a mouse and keyboard to the PC. Try all available USB ports.

Check System Files:

Open an Admin command prompt as follows:

Open Search then enter "command prompt". Right-click on the search result.

Select "Run as Administrator".

Enter the following commands, one at a time. Wait for each command to complete before running the next command.

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth note: the PC must be connected to the network when using the DISM command.

Restart the PC if Windows successfully fixed system files..

Enter the next command to verify system files are okay.

sfc /scannow

You have two options at this point if the PC is still unstable:

1. Back up data. Do a W11 in-place upgrade  (preferred). This option is now available in W11 24H2 in :Settings>System>Recovery>Fix problems using Windows Update.

Or do a HP Cloud Recovery. (second choice option).

Run the PC clean using a "fixed" version of Windows for a good period of time to check behavior. A stable experience suggests you had a driver problem or unfixable system file corruption.

2. Troubleshoot components by methodically swapping in, known good, hardware. This can get very expensive and is time consuming. I usually suggest a local PC Tech at this point if your PC is not in warranty.
