Just a Reminder to all trying to boot this paticular laptop in Windows 10 safe mode/repair mode,  This laptop  uses the 3  power down process, and it finally went into REPAIR MODE first.

 

(1) Start the computer and wait until the windows circle appears then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds then let up.

(2) Start the computer and wait until the windows circle appears then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds then let up.

(3) Start the computer and wait until you see the option to repair

There is a McAfee Pre-Install tool  that can look for problems as described here

My solution was to uninstall McAfee and I was refunded the amount left on my  LifeSafe subscription.

I had extensive timeouts when McAfee was phoning home.
