Hi @Rohit3598,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A "boot disk failure" error message indicates that your computer is unable to locate or read the necessary files to start up the operating system from the designated boot device, which is typically your primary hard drive or SSD (Solid State Drive). This can be caused by various factors, and here are some steps to help diagnose and potentially resolve the issue.

Check Boot Order:

  • Restart your computer and access the BIOS/UEFI settings. The key to enter these settings varies depending on your computer's manufacturer (common keys include F2, F12, Del, or Esc). Refer to your computer's manual or search online for instructions.
  • Make sure that your primary hard drive or SSD is set as the first boot device in the BIOS/UEFI settings.

Check for External Devices:

  • Sometimes, an external device like a USB drive or an external hard drive may interfere with the boot process. Disconnect any unnecessary external devices and try booting again.

Check the Hard Drive/SSD Connection:

  • If your computer is a desktop, ensure that the data and power cables connecting your hard drive or SSD are securely attached.
  • If it's a laptop, it's best not to open it up unless you're comfortable doing so. In this case, consider seeking professional help.

Run Diagnostics:

  • Many computer manufacturers include built-in diagnostics tools accessible from the BIOS/UEFI settings. Run these diagnostics to check for hardware issues, particularly with the hard drive or SSD.

Repair the Operating System:

  • If the issue is related to corrupted or missing system files, you might need to repair the operating system. This can often be done using installation media (e.g., a Windows installation USB or DVD).
  • Boot from the installation media and select the "Repair your computer" option.

Reinstall the Operating System:

  • As a last resort, you may need to reinstall the operating system. This will erase all data on the drive, so it should be a last resort.
  • Again, you can do this using installation media.

Check for Hardware Failure:

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that your hard drive or SSD has failed. You may need to replace the drive and reinstall the operating system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
