Hi,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your PC is stuck on the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI screen and won’t boot into Windows. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Restart the PC from the Diagnostics screen
• Look for an option like “Main Menu” → “Exit” → “Continue Startup.”
• If it boots normally after exiting, it may have entered diagnostics by mistake.

Power Cycle the laptop
• Turn the PC off completely.
• Disconnect charger → hold the power button for 15 seconds → reconnect charger → power on.
• This clears temporary hardware glitches.

Run a ‘Quick Test’ in Diagnostics
• From the UEFI menu choose System Tests → Quick Test.
• If any test fails, the PC may be forcing itself into diagnostics because it detects an error.

Check the Hard Drive/SSD test result
• Go to Component Tests → Storage → Quick Test.
• If it shows Failed, the system can’t find a working drive, which is why it won’t boot.

Check if the boot drive is detected
• In the UEFI menu, open System Information.
• Confirm the SSD/HDD is listed.
• If it shows “Not Installed,” the drive could be loose or corrupted.

Try manually selecting the Windows Boot Manager
• Go to Boot Menu (F9) during startup.
• Choose Windows Boot Manager.
• If Windows loads, the boot order may need correcting.

Reset BIOS defaults
• Press F10 at startup → Restore DefaultsSave and Exit.
• This fixes situations where a misconfigured BIOS makes the system load diagnostics.

If diagnostics repeatedly appears after every restart
• That usually means the PC is detecting a hardware problem—most commonly the SSD.
• Note which test is failing so you can proceed with the right fix.

I hope this helps.
