Hi
When I try to launch games on my machine crashes to a black screen with a circle of rotating smaller circles before rebooting. I brought my machine to be repaired. I was told the PC is overheating but cannot be repaired because of how the parts are designed. Do you provide a repair service that can fix this issue?

Hi @FranklynMiah,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your OMEN By HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC crashing to a black screen when loading games. This can be caused by various factors, including hardware and software issues. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem.
- Check System Requirements: Ensure that the games you are trying to run are compatible with your PC's hardware specifications. Some games may require specific hardware components, and if your system doesn't meet those requirements, it can lead to crashes.
- Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause black screen issues. Visit the official HP website or the graphics card manufacturer's website (NVIDIA or AMD) to download and install the latest graphics drivers for your system.
- Monitor Temperatures: Overheating can lead to system instability. Use monitoring software like MSI Afterburner or HWMonitor to check the temperature of your CPU and GPU while playing games. If temperatures are too high, consider cleaning your PC's internals and improving airflow, or even upgrading your cooling solution.
- Check for Software Conflicts: Running background applications, such as antivirus software, can sometimes conflict with games and cause crashes. Try disabling or temporarily uninstalling unnecessary background software and see if the issue persists.
- Verify Game Files: If the problem is specific to certain games, verify the integrity of the game files through the respective game launcher (e.g., Steam, Epic Games Launcher, etc.). Corrupted game files can cause crashes.
- Power Supply: Ensure that your power supply unit (PSU) is sufficient to support your system's components. Insufficient power can lead to instability and crashes. Make sure your PSU meets or exceeds the requirements of your hardware.
- BIOS and Firmware Updates: Check for BIOS and firmware updates for your motherboard and other components. Sometimes, updates can improve system stability.
- Run a System Diagnostic: HP often provides built-in diagnostics tools. You can run these to check for hardware issues. Restart your PC and look for a key combination like F2, F10, or F12 to access the diagnostics.
- Windows Updates: Make sure your operating system is up-to-date with the latest Windows updates and patches.
- Hardware Testing: If none of the above solutions work, you may need to perform hardware tests to check for faulty components. This might involve testing your RAM, GPU, and other components individually or with diagnostic tools.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
