Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
- Have you tried using a different power outlet?
- Is the power adapter (charger) plugged in securely both at the wall socket and into the laptop?
- Is there any visible damage to the power cord or adapter?
- Do you hear any sounds, like fans or a hard drive spinning, when you press the power button?
- If possible, have you tried another charger (compatible with your laptop)?
- Do you notice any blinking lights on the laptop (such as near the power button, caps lock or charging port)?
Check the power adapter and cord:
- Ensure the adapter is securely plugged into both the laptop and wall outlet.
- Try using a different power outlet or plug the charger into a different device to ensure it's working.
Hard Reset:
- If your battery is removable, take it out, unplug the power cord, and hold the power button for about 15-30 seconds to release any residual power. Then, plug in the charger and try powering on again.
Inspect the charging port and adapter:
- Look for any dust or debris in the charging port. Use a can of compressed air or a soft brush to clean it out carefully.
Try charging without the battery (if removable):
- If your battery is removable, take it out and plug in the charger. Some laptops will still work with the charger even without the battery in place.

Test with another charger:
- If you have access to a compatible charger, try using it to see if the issue is with the power adapter.
Check for LED indicators:
- Some laptops have an LED indicator near the charging port or power button. Check for any blinking patterns, as these could indicate a hardware fault (such as a charging issue or motherboard failure).
Look for a reset button:
- Some laptops have a small reset button (usually a pinhole near the charging port or bottom of the laptop). Try pressing it to reset the laptop.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
