Hello @John669
Quote: "
The power supply voltage switch, sometimes called the voltage selector switch, is a small switch located on the back of most desktop computer power supply units (PSUs)
This switch is used to set the input voltage to the power supply to either 110v/115v or 220v/230v. In other words, it's telling the power supply how much power is coming from the power source.
...
FAQ
- Is it dangerous to have your voltage switch set to the wrong voltage?
Yes. You run risk of damaging or frying your components, but an explosion or fire is unlikely, given the safeguards built into most modern power supply units.
- Is there a rule of thumb for selecting voltages?
115V is standard in the United States, while in Europe and other countries 230V is standard. You can consult a voltage-by-country guide to confirm what you should use in your specific situation.

Hi
perfect @ub6424 I was going to answer when I read that there was already what I thought here
Basically @John669 if you replace the switch in its original position, and it no longer works, either the power supply unit is burned out or by chance just a fuse , it will have to be replaced, or other elements of the computer, have also received a shock..
was this reply helpful , or just say thank you ? Click on the yes button

Hello @John669
First of all: Disconnect power cabel of your computer !
When it happened: If there was no fire, no smoke or big bang, you may have been lucky.
Sometimes you get lucky a second time. You switch back the red button to 115V ( You live in the United States ? ) like it was before ( what I assume ).
Scenario A) switch from 115V to 220V while the computer is running -> possibly lucky
Scenario B) switch from 220V to 115V while the computer is running -> defective in any case !
Please report your results.
best regards
