HP ENVY Desktop - TE01-1150xt CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

I have attempted to remove reset my windows 11 pro OS to clean the. Device of any potential malware rootkits. During the wipe, the BIOS files were removed. I have attempted to reinstall them through the support page but according to HP the most recent BIOS update for my Envy Desktop TE01-1150 is F.51 from September 2024 but my BIOS setup information says the BIOS for my device is made by AMI and is revision number F.52 for motherboard 8767 which was updated in October 2024. HP’s support page most recent bios update for my device and motherboard seems to be September 2024 and it is revision f.51. How can my device have a newer revision than what is available directly from HP? How can I reinstall the correct bios if the device has a newer revision than what is available from HP?

Greetings @rdelg007

Welcome to the HP Forum.

I'm confused.

I've never seen system disk sanitization remove MB firmware. Your post states "During the wipe, the BIOS files were removed". This sounds like your MB has no BIOS.

And you have also stated your MB's BIOS is currently at F.52. These two statements are contradictory causing confusion from my end.

Yes, F.51 is the latest BIOS update offered at this HP Site.

F.52 may have come from Windows Update or from HP Support Assistant. HP may not have updated your PC's BIOS download site to include F.52.

HP generally prevents BIOS rollbacks. You would see an error if you try to install F.51.

No worries if your PC is working okay and you can reinstall Windows. Don't reset Windows within Windows if you believe the PC is infected. You would not be able to reset Windows if you wiped the system drive.

Can you install Windows clean? If not, please describe the problem.

According the the device this is the latest BIOS REVISION:

F.52 doesn’t exist for all intents and purposes that I can see. What am I doing wrong?

Greetings @rdelg007

I still don't know what's going on. Is the F.52 BIOS messed up?

It looks like the PC can't complete a successful POST. So you can't run Windows.

You're not doing anything wrong.

Your PC probably got a faulty firmware update from Windows Update or HPSA. It is best to do a manual BIOS update.

it is a real PITA to flash a HP consumer PC BIOS to an earlier version. Check this Forum thread to see what may be involved to rollback the BIOS on your PC.

You may need a local PC Tech to do this.
