Hi @Migozzi1

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

You can roll back the BIOS on your HP Omen 30L using a previous version from HP’s official support site or by creating a recovery USB with the older BIOS. This may help restore proper GPU power delivery and thermal behavior.

Step-by-step actions to roll back BIOS on HP Omen 30L

1. Identify your exact motherboard and BIOS version

  • Press Win + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter.
  • Note:
    • System Model
    • BIOS Version/Date
    • BaseBoard Product

This ensures you download the correct BIOS version for your specific Omen 30L configuration.

2. Download a previous BIOS version

  • Visit: HP Software and Driver Downloads
  • Enter your exact model number (e.g., GT13-0004in or GT13-1004).
  • Under BIOS, click Previous Versions (if available).
  • Download the version prior to the one currently installed.

If older versions are not listed, you may need to use the HP BIOS Recovery method below.

3. Create a BIOS recovery USB

If your system is unstable or the BIOS rollback option is greyed out:

  1. Insert a USB drive (8 GB or more) into a working PC.
  2. Format it as FAT32.
  3. Download the BIOS .exe file from HP’s site.
  4. Run the file and choose Create Recovery USB when prompted.
  5. Insert the USB into your Omen 30L.
  6. Power off the system.
  7. Hold Win + B, then press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds.
  8. Release all keys and wait for the BIOS recovery screen.

This will initiate a rollback or reflash using the BIOS file on the USB.

4. Reset BIOS settings after rollback

  • Enter BIOS Setup (Esc > F10 at startup).
  • Press F9 to load defaults.
  • Press F10 to save and exit.

This ensures clean voltage and thermal profiles are applied.

Let me know your current BIOS version or if you need help locating the correct rollback file. You’ve done everything right by staying observant and persistent—I’ll be here to guide you further if needed.

Took me a while to get out of an endless blue screen cycle and reinstall windows to get here. There is no older bios version available. This is the one I have now for my gt13-1317no

  • HP Consumer Desktop PC BIOS Update (ROM Family SSID 8876)

  • F.24 Rev.A
  • 13.8 MB
  • Oct 19, 2025

I'm assuming that there is no way to get to set the CPU voltage directly from BIOS settings? At least I dont seem to be able to change anything at all. Basically big problem is that 1.18125 voltage and curve optimizer was enabling gaming with reasonable temps, now the voltage isnt written to BIOS by Omen Gaming Hub, so curve optimizer overrules even for the current setup.

Hi @Migozzi1  We sincerely thank you for your patience and co-operation during this troubleshooting process.

I understand how frustrating it must have been to go through repeated blue screen cycles and a full reinstall before stabilizing your Omen 30L. You’ve done well to get the system back up and running. Let’s clarify a few points about the BIOS and CPU voltage control:

BIOS Availability

  • For your Omen 30L (gt13-1317no, ROM Family SSID 8876), the current BIOS version F.24 Rev.A (Oct 19, 2025) is the latest release.
  • HP generally does not provide rollback packages for consumer desktop BIOS updates once a newer version is published. That’s why you don’t see older BIOS versions available for download.

CPU Voltage Control

  • On HP consumer desktops, including the Omen series, the BIOS interface is intentionally limited to protect system stability.
  • Direct CPU voltage adjustments (undervolting or overvolting) are not exposed in BIOS menus. This is by design to prevent hardware damage or instability.
  • Instead, performance tuning is managed through HP’s software layer (such as OMEN Gaming Hub) which allows safe adjustments to performance profiles, fan curves, and thermal management without exposing raw voltage controls.

What you can do

  • OMEN Gaming Hub: Use this application to adjust performance modes (Balanced, Performance, etc.) and thermal behavior. It’s the supported way to influence CPU performance indirectly.
  • Windows Power Plans: Adjusting advanced power settings in Windows can also help manage CPU behavior without BIOS-level voltage changes.
  • BIOS Settings: You can still check for options like enabling/disabling Intel Turbo Boost, XMP profiles for memory, or fan control—but voltage settings will not appear.

Next Steps

If your system is stable now after reinstalling Windows and updating to BIOS F.24, I recommend:

  • Keeping OMEN Gaming Hub updated for performance management.
  • Monitoring system temperatures with the HP App or third-party tools to ensure cooling is adequate.
  • Avoiding third-party BIOS mods or voltage tools, as they can compromise system safety.

You’ve already taken strong recovery steps. The key takeaway is that voltage control isn’t available in BIOS on this platform, but you can still manage performance safely through OMEN Gaming Hub and Windows settings.
