My HPE-190t froze when downloading email to Outlook (very strange). Nothing helped, did not respond to ctrl-alt-del. I held down power until it turned off. Now when I tried to turn it on, it just gives me a beep pattern of 1 short, 1 long. Please note that the web page often mentioned for beeps, "Computer beeps or a light blinks during startup", only covers blinks. There is nothing about beeps. I don't know what the product code for my system is, but underneath the cabinet there is a black sticker that says "System Number" BN405AV#AVA, so maybe that is it. There is a serial number, which I think I'm not meant to provide. There is a separate black sticker that says BID = A1NAV 6PcA5 and a lot of stuff after "Feature Byte =". At the bottom, that sticker says HPE - 190t. I hope all that is enough to identify my system, and that you can decipher the beep code. Many thanks.

Greetings @RP1024
I'm pretty sure your PC's BIOS is Legacy. HP no longer lists or I can't find the Legacy BIOS error codes.
A 1:1 beep code could be a memory problem.
Try each stick of HP factory memory, one at a time, in each memory slot to check for a successful POST. You might also have to try a compatible replacement stick of memory.
Again, the above memory suggestion as the cause of the 1:1 POST beep error code is a guess. The PC could have a different problem such a graphics card issue or even a corrupted BIOS.

Thanks so much for your help. From my own poking around, I also feel that the likely meaning of the beep pattern is a memory problem. I tried testing the memory sticks individually in each slot but still go the same beeps. So, I don't think I'll be able to fix this. I've removed the hard drives, and they are OK, so that's a win. Thanks again.
