Hi @Gatsheni

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP All-in-One 27-inch desktop screen has gone black and is no longer responsive, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue. Here’s a systematic approach to diagnosing and fixing the problem:

1. Check the Power and Connections

  • Ensure the power cable is securely connected: Double-check that both the power cable and the power adapter are securely connected to both the wall outlet and the back of the computer.
  • Try a different power outlet: Sometimes, an outlet may be faulty. Plug your computer into a different working outlet to rule out this possibility.
  • Look for power indicators: Check for any lights on the computer (like an LED on the power button). If the power light is not on, it could indicate a power issue.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the PC (press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds to force it off).
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the computer.
  • Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This can help drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power cord, and then press the power button to turn the system back on.

3. Check for Display Issues

  • Try adjusting the brightness: The screen may appear black if the brightness has been turned all the way down. Check if you can see anything by adjusting the brightness using the keyboard or buttons on the monitor.
  • External monitor test: If you have access to an external monitor or TV with HDMI, you can try connecting it to your all-in-one using the HDMI port (if your model has one) to check if the issue is with the screen or the entire system. If the external monitor displays the desktop, it suggests a screen issue.

4. Check for Power Supply Issues

  • If the power button light is on but the screen is still black, there could be an issue with the internal power supply. This can be tricky to diagnose without professional tools. If the power light is blinking or showing an error pattern (such as blinking in a specific sequence), that may indicate a power supply issue.

5. Perform a System Recovery or BIOS Reset

If you hear any fan noise or see any light on the system but the screen stays black, it might be a software or firmware issue. You can try the following:

  • Perform a forced recovery:
    1. Power off the system.
    2. Press and hold the Windows Key + B key, and while holding these, press and release the Power button.
    3. Keep holding Windows + B until you see the HP logo or recovery screen.
    4. If the system boots up, you can try to reset or repair the system from the recovery options available.
  • Reset BIOS/UEFI settings: If your system has no response after a hard reset, you can try resetting the BIOS to default:
    1. Turn off the computer.
    2. On the next start-up, press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
    3. From the Startup Menu, select F10 to enter the BIOS setup and choose to reset the BIOS to default settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
