Hi @Pianoman1206,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop is showing a “No Battery” pop-up, even though the battery is physically present, it could be due to a few common causes, and I’ll walk you through them with care.
Why the “No Battery” Message Might Appear:
- Battery Not Detected by BIOS or Windows
- Battery Driver Issue
- Battery Health or Hardware Fault
- Recent BIOS or Windows Update
Steps to Fix “No Battery” Error:
1. Perform a Hard Reset:
- Shut down the laptop.
- Unplug the power adapter.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the power adapter and turn on the laptop.
2. Check Battery Connection (if removable):
- Power off and remove the battery.
- Clean the contacts gently.
- Reinsert the battery securely.
3. Update BIOS and Drivers:
- Go to HP’s support page for your laptop model:
👉 Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support - Install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.
4. Reinstall Battery Driver:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Batteries.
- Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and choose Uninstall.
- Restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
5. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:
- Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to test the battery: 👉 HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
