In a desktop, this most generally means the the data cable between the internal drive (HDD or SSD) has become loose or disconnected and the BIOS, as a result, is unable to see the drive.
If you open the case and confirm the cable IS connected properly, then the most likely scenario is that the drive has dies completed -- and needs to be replaced and Windows reinstalled.
