HP Omen 870-244
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I didn't know what had updated/changed, but my PC began beeping 3 long , then 3 short upon startup. Found that to be the BIOS code for an issue with the display, so I tried starting the PC w/ the monitor unplugged, and the beeping stopped. I could plug the monitor back in once the computer started and everything seemed to work fine. Researched the issue further and found a multitude of suggestions as to what the problem could be. I updated the BIOS, replaced the displayport cable, cleaned and reseated the graphics card, updated the drivers for the monitor (LG 34GP83A-B 34) and the graphics card (GTX1070), all to no avail. Came across a post suggesting an issue with displayport 1.4 and that I should try changing my monitor to displayport 1.2. That seemed to work, but limited the refresh rate of the monintor to 60HZ. I then found a post about a firmware update for certain NVIDIA cards and displayport 1.4 displays. I followed the link for the update tool, ran it, and resolved the issue. Posting this here with the hopes that I can save someone else a few hours and a bunch of frustration 🙂

Hi@CallMeNot,

Welcome to the HP community !

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is not booting to Windows.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check whether the issue is resolved.

1. Turn off the computer.

2. Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.

3. Unplug the power cable from the computer.

4. With the power cord unplugged, press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors.

5. Connect the power cable, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.

6. Press the Power button to turn on the computer.

7. If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, and then press the Enter key.

8. After Windows opens, reconnect each peripheral device that was disconnected, one device at a time, until all devices are reconnected.

If you continue facing the issue, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.
