Hi,

My system case fan is running full speed since last major windows update not windows 11 upgrade.

On the 17th of November i did a windows update on shutdown, next day on boot my rear case/system fan is running full speed from startup.

Its unfortunate we cannot adjust system fan in bios settings. Boot to bios fan speed is 1081RPM. Restart to bios and fan speed is 3812RPM. The fan comes on at normal quiet speed until just before windows login screen then its ramps to full speed and stays there. All temps for cpu gpu are fine, i unplugged the case fan to also test to elminate which fan. It is definitely rear exhaust case/system fan.

Have removed what windows updates it would let me remove, reinstalled bios three times, its been days and days trying to fix this and im dead set losing sleep over it. Someone please help 😪

Thanks in advance,

Grant

Hi,

It looks like a November Windows update has caused a problem. I would uninstall all November Windows updates. Then try a system restore using a restore point prior to the November Windows updates if removing the November updates don't help.

You could also remove the CR2032 MB battery. Let the PC sit for awhile.

Then reinstall the MB battery. This will reset CMOS. Maybe this will fix the problem which has occurred after doing the latest Windows updates.

I can never process causality when hardware problems occur subsequent to a Windows update. It is tough to process  stuff like this happens.

Maaaaate you sir are a dead set legend.

I've been pulling my hair out googling stuff for two bloody weeks and all it needed was a cmos reset. Although I just learnt what that was, bloody simple thing isn't it. Learn new things every day.

Had to remove the power supply to get to it but no dramas it's all sorted now.

Owe you a beer mate bloody love ya work 🤙🍻
