PC beeps at startup - 2 long and 2 short

HP Recommended
HP Prodesk 400 G3 SFF - V7R17ES#ABU
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When switched on the PC beeps 2 long beeps with the power button flashing red and 2 short beeps with the power button flashing white.  This repeats for a total of 8 sets of beeps.

Nothing ever appears on the screen and after the beeps stop, the lights continue until the power cable is removed.

Tried to initiate the BIOS by pressing F11 but not working.  Nothing works!

Any helps would be appreciated.

Hi

You get a LONG (MAJOR) signal category, RED LED &

then a SHORT (MINOR) signal category, WHITE LED.

Major – the category of the error; Minor – specific error in that category

The AUDIBLE repeats 5 times, and the VISUAL until power is removed.

BIOS

2.2

The main area (DXE) of BIOS has become corrupted and there is no recovery binary image available.

Also happens when updating BIOS.

Typically no steps needed.

1. Allow the system to complete its updates and changes.

2. If updates are stalling, attempt Sure Start Recovery.

Thanks for your reply.  I have however tried both of these options and neither is allowing me to get into the PC.  It appears BIOS recovery is not working  and although the PC is initiating communication with the keyboard and a USB drive, they fail to do any more than flash once therefore key pressing and BIOS recovery is impossible!  I suspect the motherboard may be the problem.

Hi

Just to state the obvious....

The Recovery using this...

Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.
Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 seconds.
Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.
The HP BIOS Update screen displays and the recovery begins automatically. Follow any on-screen prompts to continue the startup to complete the recovery.
HP BIOS Update recovery in progress

If the HP BIOS Update screen does not display, repeat the previous steps but press the Windows key and the V key. If the screen still does not display, your computer might not support the feature or there is a hard drive issue. Continue to the next step to install a BIOS recovery file from the HP website.
If the Power light turns off, the Power button was held too long. Repeat the previous steps, making sure to hold the button for only 2 to 3 seconds.

Can rely on a working copy on he Hard Disk. Therefore not reliable.

Step 2: Create a USB recovery drive

Install a BIOS recovery file from the HP website using a USB flash drive. To complete this step, you need a second working computer with an active Internet connection.

May work, and if not then a Main Board is prime suspect.

If in doubt please.

Thanks for your suggestions.  Here are the results:

Paragraph 1 -  Windows & B - Tried this and as I said before, pressing the keys on the keyboard has no effect, only thing that happens is the beeping rotation, as stated.

Paragraph 2 - Windows & V - as paragraph 1

Paragraph 3 -  Create a USB recovery -  created successfully but again is not activated, therefore unable to go any further

I believe it to be a motherboard problem.

Thanks for your assistance
