Hello, I got on my PC this morning and everything was fine for like 15 minutes, it froze up for some reason so I had to power down the PC. When I powered it back up, obviously it said it didn’t power down correctly and started some sort of “c:disc repair” or something of that sort, when it got to 100% the screen went black. It stayed like that for 2 hours so then I tried to reboot it again. Now it just loads the HP logo, after what looks like its booting up, the screen just goes black again. All power lights are on and PC sounds fine, just no screen. However my monitor is still receiving a signal otherwise it would say “no signal”. Any idea what the issue could be?

A freezing PC is almost always due to a failing drive.
If your PC is new enough to support UEFI, you can use these steps to test the hard drive: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00439024
If not, to check the drive you have to follow these steps:
1) Press Esc key repeatedly, several times a second, while rebooting the laptop. Do NOT hold the key down, just press it over and over.
2) Eventually, you will see an HP Startup Menu
3) Press the Function key for testing the hard drive (usually F2) and let it run.
