So recently my PC has been randomly shutting down. Some days it does not happen at all and then most days, the PC randomly shuts down every 5 minutes and occasionally powers back up by itself. I disabled the check mark that when system failure occurs, it will automatically restart. This did not help. Then, I ran the HP PC Hardware Diagnostic Test. Everything passed except 2 items that resulted in being cancelled ( the 2 items were the wireless Irq test and wireless rom test). I assumed I did not have those 2 components. After this, I check the temperature of the computer through core temp. It showed no signs of overheating. I cleaned the computer from any dust and the fans are running properly. I did a factory reset also. The PC ran smoothly for a few days and then the problem came back. At this point, it is frustrating to do anything on the PC. Sometimes it’s ok for a few hours, other times the PC is unusable due to the constant shutting. I’ve had this PC for 3 years now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

This symptom can be related to the power supply or the power switch. It looks like you have Bluetooth and Wireless LAN (Link) PCIe half length mini card. Remove the card and see what happens.

You unchecked the restart option in advanced system settings. So it is probably not a system driver problem. Check Device Manager for errors. Bad hardware may not be revealed in device manager but can cause the symptoms you are seeing.

Reduce the PC to a minimum configuration and check for stability.

You might have to try a new power supply or check for an intermittent short if removing the Wireless card does not fix the problem.

Regards
