Hello! I just upgraded my ram. Bought two of these sticks. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Kingston-KVR32N22S8-8-DDR4-3200-8GB-1Gx64-CL22-Memory/706170934?from=/sea...
After i installed them my pc worked perfectly but after few gaming sessions my pc started to shuts down randomly.
So i installed everthing correctly rams are on right spots, checked that mobo supports rams, updatet bios etc..
Could my psu be too weak or something?
I would appreciate help so much!

Hi @konailija22 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Random shutdowns after a RAM upgrade can indeed be caused by various factors. Let's troubleshoot the issue step by step:
Check RAM Compatibility:
- Make sure the new RAM sticks are compatible with your motherboard. Check the motherboard's manual or visit the HP website to verify the compatibility.
Re-seat RAM Modules:
- Ensure that the RAM modules are properly seated in their slots. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause instability.
MemTest86:
- Run a memory test using MemTest86 or Windows Memory Diagnostic. This can help identify if there are any issues with the RAM itself.
Check System Logs:
- Examine the Windows Event Viewer for any error messages or warnings that might provide insights into the cause of the shutdowns.
Update Drivers:
- Ensure that all your drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up-to-date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause instability.
Power Supply Unit (PSU):
- Upgrading RAM can increase power consumption, and if your power supply is borderline or failing, it could cause shutdowns. Check the wattage of your PSU and ensure it meets the power requirements of your system.
Temperature Monitoring:
- Overheating can also cause random shutdowns. Monitor your CPU and GPU temperatures using software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner. Ensure that your cooling system is functioning properly.
Power Settings:
- Check your power settings in Windows to make sure they are not set to shut down or sleep too aggressively.
BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Ensure that your BIOS/UEFI settings are configured correctly. Sometimes, a firmware update may be required to better support new hardware.
Restore Original RAM:
- If the issues persist, try reinstalling your original RAM to see if the problem goes away. This can help isolate whether the new RAM is the cause.
Test Each RAM Stick Individually:
- Test each new RAM stick individually. This can help identify if one of the RAM sticks is faulty.
