OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC GT21-0000a (3G5Y9AV)

Hi, I recently did a factory reset on my desktop. I left my desktop to reset itself then after a few hours it kept rebooting by itself stuck on 64%. I force shut down on the desktop and it’s still the same. I left it overnight with 64% and the next morning it was still doing the same thing. If anyone has any solutions please let me know.

Hi @Joh79

I would do the factory reset with only a keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

It looks like your PC may have a hardware problem.

Start the PC. Repeatedly tap the "ESC" key.

Select "F2. Run system and component tests.

Hi Bill thanks for the advice! I did the scans and stuff and it says hard drive ssd smart check failed. But my desktop never came with any hard drives is that normal. I was able to run the pc fine without any hard drives initially.

Hi @Joh79

My pleasure.

Yes, your PC does not have a slow platter HDD.

The operating system is installed on a 1 TB PCIe NVME SSD. This drive connects directly to the MB. It looks like a stick of gum.

You may have to replace this part. Or contact HP If the PC is in warranty.

I don't know if data would be recoverable on this drive since you were doing a factory reset. A factory reset normally overwrites the drive.

Your PC should qualify for the HP Cloud Recovery option if you personally replace the SSD
