Hi Guys,
Due to financial difficulty, i am one of those who can't afford to buy a new PC, so i bought an old used HP Pavilion Desktop 400-437d (Slimline). When i press power button (single click/press) nothing happens. then i tried long press (like 2-3 seconds) and slow release, it powers on. However, i can't seem to find a consistent pattern, sometimes 2 sec press, sometimes 3, sometimes 5.. Thinking PSU and power switch is the culprit, i tried migrating it to another PC case which is HP envy phoenix, and used a good working 400w PSU. However, same behavior of powering on happens. I'm new to using HP desktop PC's so my question is, does HP desktop PC's normally power on this way? I'm used to other PC's just single press of power button then it powers up. is there a way to make it like single press? or is it really default long press slow release to power on? or is it a sign of faulty PC? any enlightenment from the community is highly appreciated. TIA! Cheers!

Hello
no indeed, normally all computers are turned on by a simple press, not even a second, press and release
But difficult to say where the problem comes from, the button itself, or a problem with the motherboard, or other
If you can return it, I doubt it?
if not, tried to consult a computer repairman
I do not see what to tell you to test
