Computer turns on turns off and turns on

Hi,

 

This sounds like a power supply problem or a short somewhere (motherboard or a component connected to the motherboard {MB}).

 

This could also apply to a faulty power button located on the front or top of the chassis which is connected to a MB header.

The issue went away by itself and has not repeated.  If it was a short or power button issue it would turn off and not restart unless I intervene.  I believe it was a BIOS issue which was resolved when I got a HP update.  I will repost if the issue turns up again.
