Hi, upgraded BIOS a while ago as old BIOS kept cooling fan running at maximum speed. Computer works fine except for when booting, then I get following message. Tried many "fixes" adviced on web, but still same problem

Hi @Larsa3

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are experiencing an Intel Management Engine firmware error after updating the BIOS. This issue can occur if the Intel Management Engine (ME) firmware was not updated successfully during the BIOS installation. Since your computer is able to boot into Windows and functions normally, the problem can often be resolved by reinstalling the correct BIOS or firmware package for your HP desktop.

I would request you to please follow the steps:

  • Click "Continue to boot" and allow Windows to start.
  • Identify your exact HP desktop model or product number.
  • Press Windows + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter.
  • Note the Product Number or System Model.
  • Download the latest BIOS/Intel ME firmware from the HP Support website for your exact model.
  • Install the BIOS package even if the same version is already installed. This can reinstall the Intel Management Engine firmware.
  • Restart the computer after the installation completes.

If the error remains:

  • Shut down the PC.
  • Turn it on and repeatedly press Esc, then F10 to enter the BIOS.
  • Press F9 to Load Setup Defaults.
  • Select Yes, then press F10 to Save and Exit.
  • Restart the computer and check whether the message is gone

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists please share me the Product number.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
