OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC GT22-0000i (393C5AV)

Hello all,

I would like to do a lot of thinls on my hp omen.

But first i have to understant one thinks first

By defaullt in the bios raid is activated, and if i change to AHCI the pc don't boot normal.

FYI, i don t need to do a raid.

My question is Raid include AHCI or not ? and if not, disks performance are impacted or not ?

If yes is there a simple solution to pass in AHCI without reinstalling OS ?

Thanks all for your precious help in advance. I'm asking you that from switzerland as the local support is bad and a no idea what i'm talking about

Hi, Pascal:

Does your PC have a M.2 NVMe SSD with Intel Optane included or a separate Intel Optane M.2 memory device?

If so, RAID must be enabled for the Intel Optane to work.

RAID provides the same features and performance as AHCI does, so there is no need to change the setting if your PC won't boot up in AHCI mode.

Hi Paul,

Does your PC have a M.2 NVMe SSD with Intel Optane included or a separate Intel Optane M.2 memory device?

Yes I have a 2 Tera M2 NVME in addition i have a 4 tera Stardard SSD 870 Evo with intel optane but not sure if the configuration is right
by default i have in optane: Status is ok,  and in created volume raid nothing is configured.

Both are working speed tesr fpr the NVME using Cristal Disk is: for sequential 1 mega 6925 read  and

5169 write, i will not give you all score, this one for me is what is exptected

For the SSD 870 Evp for sequential 1 mega 560 read  and 525, this one is also what is expectef for a standard  SSD

All above information make sense for you. ?

Next step to remove my old Pc i would like to add a 1 Tera Cruxial SSD wirh windows 10 alredy installed  and create a dual boot

To have all data in case of on the same computer. FYI this SSD is a clone of the one on my old PC, I tested both on old PC and both are working

May i have to care of something special or not ?

Thanks a lot for your precious help my friend.

When all we be done i will have another question about perfomance in 3 dmark spy. my score is good for graphism almost 19000 average but seems to be very poor in CPU 15700 or so but this is a another subjet.

Go step by step......

Hi Paul

Any idea about installing the ssd for dual boot ?

Or i have to open a new thread

Best regards

You're very welcome.

OK, since you have an Intel Optane memory device installed that is why the PC must be configured in RAID.

I don't know why it must be that way.  That is a question for Intel.

There is a specific procedure to disable Intel Optane if you plan on removing the Intel Optane memory so you can enable AHCI.

The read/write speeds you reported seem to be spot in for the drives you have if your NVMe SSD is PCIe Gen 4.

Unfortunately, I do not have any experience with dual booting operating systems, so I wouldn't be able to help you with that, and suggest you start a new discussion.

Hi Paul thanks a lot for your help.

As my M2 and SSD are working at the right speed

I will do not change.

The read/write speeds you reported seem to be spot in for the drives you have if your NVMe SSD is PCIe Gen 4. :: yes it is a Gen 4

For dual boot I will check YouTube they are plenty of video

Thanks a lot

For your help
