HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15m-es0000 (268U4AV)

After some problems with my old drive, I purchased a new SSD for my laptop. It’s not showing up in Windows 10, or 11 installer, but I can install Ubuntu on it, and the UEFI/BIOS recognizes the SSD just fine.

None of the drivers on HP’s website seemed to make it work. I think the problem has to do with Windows. The installer should be able to scan for .exe drivers that are compatible, correct? Or is there another format I need?

Laptop: HP envy x360 15m-es0023dx

New SSD: WD Blue - SN580, NVME SSD, 1TB

Operating System - Windows 11 (or Windows 10, honestly at this point I'm not picky)

Before looking into drivers needed for installation can you find your product ID including the 3 letters after the # character and see if you  can do a factory restore?

I looked up 15m-es0023dx and found the following

It appears that 341T3UA has a factory restore.  However your actual system may have a different Product Number

Anyway, go to below site and put in your product ID.  If it is supported then you need a 32gb flash drive

If not, then post back here and provide the symptom or error messages that prevent the win10/11 setup.

Yes, that is indeed my product ID. It's supported, but I will need to run out and grab a 64GB (or 48gb) flash drive tomorrow. If I run into any more problems I'll ask here. Thank you.

Hi, @Anonymous90210

You have to install the Intel storage controller drivers that I zipped up and attached below, which are good for PC's with the Intel 11th gen > 13th gen core processors.

Copy the 5 files from the F6/VMD/f6vmdflpy-x64 folder to a USB flash drive.

iastorvd.cat

iastorvd.inf

iastorvd.sys

rstmweventlogmsg.dll

rstmwservice.exe

Have the flash drive and your W11 installation media plugged into USB ports.

Boot from the W11 installation flash drive.

When you get to the screen where no drives can be found, click on the Load driver option, browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

Click Next, and Windows should find the drive and install.
