Welcome to our HP community forum!
When your monitor displays "VGA: No signal" and then goes to sleep, it typically indicates that it’s not receiving a signal from the computer. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue:
1. Check the VGA Cable and Connections:
- Ensure that both ends of the VGA cable are securely connected, both to the monitor and the computer.
- Try a different VGA cable or another input if possible (like HDMI or DisplayPort) to rule out a faulty cable.
2. Verify the Input Source:
- Check the monitor’s input settings to ensure it's set to the correct input source (e.g., VGA). Sometimes monitors are set to a different input and switching it to VGA can fix the issue.
3. Check for Loose Connections Inside the PC:
- If you are using a desktop computer, ensure that the graphics card (if present) is properly seated in the motherboard.
- Make sure the VGA port on the computer is clean and free of debris or damage.
4. Test with Another Monitor or PC:
- Connect the monitor to another computer or device to check if it works. If it does, the problem might be with the original computer.
- Connect another monitor to the original computer to check if the issue persists, which might indicate a graphics or hardware issue.
5. Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers:
- If you are able to access the computer via a different monitor or safe mode, update or reinstall the graphics drivers. An outdated or corrupted driver could prevent proper signal transmission.
6. Try Booting into Safe Mode:
- If there is an issue with the display settings or drivers, boot into safe mode to see if the monitor works there. If it does, reset the display settings or reinstall the graphics driver.
7. Check Power Settings:
- Sometimes power-saving settings can cause the monitor to go to sleep quickly. Adjust the power and sleep settings in the computer’s control panel or BIOS.
If none of these steps solve the issue, it could indicate a hardware problem with the VGA port, graphics card, or monitor.
Kind Regards,
