Hi @Anniosrn,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP computer screen won’t turn on after being shut down, here are the most effective steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:
1. Check for Power
- Is the power light on? If not, check the power cable and outlet.
- Try a different power outlet or power adapter if available.
2. Perform a Hard Reset
This clears any residual power that might be causing the issue:
- For laptops: Unplug the charger, remove the battery (if removable), then press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
- For desktops: Unplug the power cord, hold the power button for 15–20 seconds, then plug it back in and try turning it on.
3. Check the Display
- Shine a flashlight at the screen—if you see a faint image, the backlight may be faulty.
- Try connecting to an external monitor via HDMI or VGA. If the external display works, the issue is with the built-in screen or its connection.
4. Listen for Beeps or Fan Sounds
- Beep codes or fan activity can indicate the system is powering on but not displaying.
- Let me know if you hear any beeps or see blinking lights.
5. Try BIOS Recovery
If the screen stays black but the power light is on:
- Press and hold Windows + B and then press the power button for 2–3 seconds.
- Keep holding the keys for up to 60 seconds to trigger BIOS recovery.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
