Sorry to post under Desktop Boot and Lockup, but I couldn't find a bether option...
I'm trying to install a second ethernet interface on my Microserver Proliant N54l, but I'm facing some difficulties. Running LINUX )i've tryied with UBUNTU 20.04 and DEBIAN 10) I noticed that both enp2s0 and enp3s0 are renamed after eth0, which shouldn't happen.
After configuring /etc/network/interfaces with my configuration and restarting the service, enp3s0 goes down. I have to manually bring it up again (ifup enp3s0).
After initial boot, dmesg returns:
root@servidor:~# dmesg | grep enp
[ 2.290238] r8169 0000:02:00.0 enp2s0: renamed from eth0
[ 2.305776] tg3 0000:03:00.0 enp3s0: renamed from eth0
[ 4.584484] r8169 0000:02:00.0 enp2s0: unable to load firmware patch rtl_nic/rtl8168e-3.fw (-2)
[ 4.693493] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): enp2s0: link is not ready
[ 5.510217] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): enp3s0: link is not ready
[ 8.529895] tg3 0000:03:00.0 enp3s0: Link is up at 1000 Mbps, full duplex
[ 8.529924] tg3 0000:03:00.0 enp3s0: Flow control is on for TX and on for RX
[ 8.529968] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): enp3s0: link becomes ready
[ 17.378978] r8169 0000:02:00.0 enp2s0: Link is Up - 100Mbps/Full - flow control rx/tx
[ 17.378997] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): enp2s0: link becomes ready
I loaded optimal settings on BIOS, but nothing has changed
As you can see, both interfaces enp have been named after eth0. I believe it should be one after eth0 and the other after eth1.
I replaced the card, but nothing has changed.
Is there any jumper configuration on motherboard? Or any other detail?
Thanks
