Secure Boot - HP Compaq 6005 Pro SFF PC

I recently got a HP Compaq 6005 Pro SFF PC second hand, and I had a couple issues with it at the start - I resolved it by reseating RAM.

But I have encountered another problem when installing Proxmox VE 8.1.  I originally wrote the Proxmox ISO to a bootable USB and encountered an issue where when I selected the USB boot option it would fail and boot into Windows XP - the OS on the Hard Drive. Then I tried using Ubuntu to write to a USB and it didn't work too, I tried BalenaEtcher and Rufus and other boot options and nothing worked. Then, I wrote the Proxmox ISO to the Hard Drive thinking that would work and it just booted into the Proxmox installer and said "No Storage Device Available".

I am aware that I can plug in a second hard drive or USB storage device and install Proxmox to that, but I would like to install to the Drive that has the install - which I can't do.

Now, after some research I believe that I need to turn off Secure Boot - but I can't find the option in the BIOS? If anyone could help I would really appreciate it, thanks!

 Set Rufus to use MBR and BIOS instead of GPT and UEFI

I put win10 on my Compaq 6000 SFF.  Win11 would have worked but I only had 4gb ram.

The below shows win11 but use the win10 ISO from Microsoft

Get win10 here (get the ISO)
Get Rufus here

Use an 8gb or larger USB.

Configure Rufus to use MBR boot and select the option that creates a local account
so as to avoid the Microsoft email login. Use options shown below

Uncheck the "Set regional options" if you are creating the USB on another system that has a different OS than yours.
If licensed for home then do not install pro.

It either does not recognize proxmax or the ISO requires UEFI

For example, when downloading the full desktop Ubuntu one is asked if the UEFI is needed. If the UEFI is selected, then Rufus will not show the older BIOS option

This is the Ubuntu that requires UEFI

I can not select "BIOS" but I can select MBR or GPT

CSM is when the motherboard supports legacy bios as well as UEFI
