Hi  @Keyzen

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out, and thank you for sharing the image. I understand that the system keeps returning to the Secure Boot authorization screen even after entering the 4-digit code, and I will do my best to help you.

To better understand the situation, could you kindly provide:

  • The full HP product model number or product name. - click here for steps
  • The operating system installed on the device.
  • Did the issue begin after a BIOS update, Windows update, hardware change, or any other modification?
  • Are you able to access the BIOS (F10) or the Startup Menu (Esc)?
  • Have you noticed any other error messages in addition to the Secure Boot screen?

Based on the image, it appears that the system is repeatedly requesting authorization for a Secure Boot configuration change. Kindly try the below steps and confirm :

1: Perform a Hard Reset - click here for steps

  1. Turn the computer off completely.
  2. Disconnect the AC adapter/charger.
  3. If the battery is removable, remove it.
  4. Press and hold the Power button for 15-20 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power source and turn the computer on.

2: Reset BIOS to Default Settings

  1. Turn on the computer and repeatedly tap F10 to enter BIOS.
  2. Press F9 to load BIOS default settings.
  3. Select Yes to confirm.
  4. Press F10 to save the changes and exit.
  5. Restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

 3: Verify Secure Boot Settings

If you can access BIOS:

  1. Navigate to Security or Boot Options.
  2. Check the status of Secure Boot and Legacy Support.
  3. If Secure Boot changes are pending, save the settings and restart only once to complete the configuration.
  4. Observe whether the authorization screen continues to appear.

4: Run HP Hardware Diagnostics - Click here for steps

  1. Turn the computer off.
  2. Turn it back on and repeatedly tap Esc.
  3. Select F2 - System Diagnostics.
  4. Run the System Tests and share the results if any issues are reported.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Deep_World

I tried your advice for troubleshooting below but still doesn't work.
This issue occur when I did some changes on the bios setup and it turns to that loop. the OS installed on device was Win11 Pro and I am not able to access the bios by pressing F10 or Esc. And there is no other additional error message on the secure boot screen

Hi @Keyzen

Thanks for your response and Thank you for the update and for confirming the details. I understand that your HP Workstation Desktop is stuck in a Secure Boot loop after BIOS changes, and I appreciate that you have already tried the previous steps but had no success.

Based on the information provided, the issue is likely related to a Secure Boot configuration that was not completed correctly, preventing the system from accepting the authorization code and blocking access to the BIOS and Startup Menu.

Kindly try the below steps:

1: Attempt BIOS Recovery ( Click here for steps )

  1. Turn off the workstation.
  2. Press and hold Windows + B.
  3. While holding the keys, press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds.
  4. Release the Power button but continue holding Windows + B for another 10-15 seconds.
  5. Check if the BIOS Recovery screen appears.

2: Verify if Startup Menu Becomes Available

After the BIOS recovery :

  1. Power on the unit.
  2. Repeatedly tap Esc immediately after pressing the Power button.
  3. If the Startup Menu appears, press F10 for BIOS Setup.
  4. Load BIOS Defaults (F9), save changes, and restart.

If the issue persists, then since the system no longer allows access to BIOS or the Startup Menu and remains locked in the Secure Boot authorization screen, the motherboard may require a service-level intervention.

Kindly let me know:

  • Were you enabling/disabling Secure Boot or Legacy Support when the issue started?
  • Does the system respond to the Windows + B BIOS recovery procedure?
  • Do you hear any beep codes or see any LED blink patterns during startup?

    I hope this helps.

Hi @Deep_World,

I Tried the Windows + B method both it doesn't work. pressing ESC or F10 when turning on wont work either.

Performed troubleshooting: I tried to press and hold the BIOS button from the motherboard for 20secs and still same. Also removed the CMOS connection and nothing change.

I just heard 1 beep when the secure boot recovery appears. hope there is another method to make it work. Thank you!

Hi @Keyzen,

Thank you for getting back to us and for taking the time to perform those advanced troubleshooting steps. I understand how concerning it is when your HP Workstation becomes stuck in a Secure Boot recovery loop and remains inaccessible even after attempting BIOS recovery, clearing the CMOS, and using the motherboard BIOS button.

Since the Windows + B BIOS recovery procedure did not respond, the Esc and F10 keys are not bringing up the Startup Menu, and the system continues to return to the Secure Boot authorization screen with a beep during startup, this may indicate that the system requires a more advanced hardware-level assessment.
