I need help with a firmware issue on my HP OMEN 30L desktop (GT13-1xxx-).

After updating BIOS to version F.24, Secure Boot stopped working correctly.

  • BIOS Mode is UEFI
  • Secure Boot shows OFF in Windows
  • BIOS shows Secure Boot enabled, but the key database is empty
  • “Load/Restore default Secure Boot keys” does not persist after reboot
  • I have already done CMOS reset and BIOS recovery (Win + B)
  • BIOS is up to date and rollback is blocked

This started immediately after the BIOS update. I believe the Secure Boot key database (PK/KEK/DB) is not being properly initialized or saved in firmware.

Does anyone have a fix for this? I can't play a bunch of games due to these errors

Hi @twillams,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that Secure boot not working after the BIOS update.

Unfortunately, there is no reliable user-side fix. Still, you can try:

HP Factory Keys reload: In BIOS → Security → Secure Boot → Load HP Factory Default Keys. Some users report partial success, but it often resets after reboot.

TPM clear: Clear TPM in BIOS, then re-enable Secure Boot. This may reduce error prompts but doesn’t fix the missing key persistence.

Windows reinstall: A clean reinstall under UEFI mode sometimes forces Secure Boot recognition, but if the firmware doesn’t save keys, it won’t last.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
