I have a blue box on black screen informing me of a secure boot violation. I have disabled secure boots checks and am still unable to gain access to start page.

Hi @Computerboots

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

Your PC is showing a Secure Boot Violation because the BIOS settings are not aligned with Windows 11 requirements. Secure Boot should ideally remain enabled, but to restore proper functionality, you’ll need to update your BIOS and reconfigure Secure Boot using HP’s official steps.

Understanding the Issue

  • Secure Boot Violation occurs when the system detects an invalid signature during startup.
  • Disabling Secure Boot allows the PC to boot, but this reduces protection against unauthorized software.
  • Windows 11 requires Secure Boot to be enabled for full compatibility and security.

Follow these steps to restore Secure Boot functionality:

Access HP Support Website

Identify Your Device

  • Enter your serial number or product name.
  • Click Submit to load the correct drivers and firmware.

Update BIOS

  • Navigate to Software, Drivers, and Firmware. https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
  • Download and install the latest BIOS update available for your PC model.
  • Restart your PC after installation.

Enable Secure Boot

  • Restart the PC and press Esc repeatedly, then select F10 (BIOS Setup).
  • Go to Security > Secure Boot Configuration.
  • Set Legacy Support = Disable.
  • Set Secure Boot = Enable.
  • Save changes and exit.

Run HP Diagnostics

  • Open the HP App on Windows.
  • Use Diagnose & Fix to verify hardware and firmware integrity.
  • This ensures your system is aligned with Windows 11 requirements.

Note

  • Secure Boot must be enabled for Windows 11 compliance and enhanced protection.
  • Legacy Support should remain disabled once BIOS is updated.
  • Always use HP App (replaces HP Smart) for diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Update your BIOS from HP’s support site https://support.hp.com/au-en/products , disable Legacy Support, re-enable Secure Boot, and confirm system health using the HP App. This will restore proper boot functionality and ensure your PC meets Windows 11 requirements.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
