Hello! I recently reset my computer using a USB media creation tool and the computer seems to run fine when it gets going, but when starting it up after being shut down the log in screen is very laggy. Also with that when I get through the log in screen, the computer still seems to lag for another minute or so before finally running better. I have updated all the drivers and i turned off all the start up apps except for the windows anti-virus. However this is very laggy compared to before the reset. Is there something I'm missing? O did HP set up something on the computer before they shipped it out originally?

Hi @Dergz
Welcome to the HP Forum.
Why did you reset the PC?
Did you do a HP Factory reset or a Windows reset? A HP factory reset would set your PC back to the way it shipped from HP. I would bet your PC startup time was very good when it was new.
Do you routinely clean the PC with compressed air or a Dust Buster?
It sounds like a BIOS setting or hardware problem if you are running a lean and mean Windows startup config and the PC's internals are clean.
Try resetting the BIOS to defaults.
I would also run HP Diagnostics at startup to check hardware.
Start the PC. Tap "ESC".
Select "F2". Run system and component tests.

hello @Bill_To
yes the start up was super fast when I first got it and all the way up to the reset. I hadreset it due to a family member downloading malicious extensions on the browsers that could not be removed except for a restart, I tried to do a Full wipe restart but then couldn't make it past the lock screen due to it not being able to identify the user. so i had to use a windows media creation tool to get it to work again. the components are good and clean. its all good hardware. How would i go resetting the BIOS? and is there a special way HP did it from he factory?

Hi @Dergz
You could also try a HP Cloud Recovery. Maybe this will solve your problem if your PC is malware free.
Check this Site showing how to get to the BIOS.
Select "Apply Defaults and Exit" in the "File" menu. Then save changes.
Malware can cause all kinds of grief if it gets into the UEFI firmware.
Not saying you have this problem. I don't know what's going on.
