Pavilion p6 Series
Having problems starting the pc, followed many troubleshooter tips unsuccessfully. Ran a start up test which failed on Hard Disk Short DST

Failure ID: RU77SM-008KR-X87T0K-60VB03
Product ID: C3T77EA#ABU

Could someone please advise me how I could rectify this, thank you

In that case, the hard drive needs to be replaced.  If you have the Recovery Disk set made when the PC was new, use them on the new hard drive.  If no joy, then they might be available from HP or Computer Surgeons.

 

If that PC was upgraded to Windows 10, then use the Media Creation Tool to make an install media for reinstalling Windows 10.

I do not have access to those type error codes meanings  but the general idea behind a Hard Disk test and a failed message is that the hard drive will fail soon or already has failed.  If the PC is running properly right now, then make an image backup, save it to a different media ( IE: save to an external hard drive or network device, or DVD\BluRay) and then replace the drive and install the image on the new hard drive.  Another way is to clone the drive to a new hard drive immediately, before the failure happens.  Quit using the PC RIGHT NOW and do the cloning.

You are risking any data you value by using the old drive any further.

Thank you for the speedy reply, unfortunately the pc hasn't been working for sometime. I think I'll just have to cut my losses with it
