Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I turn on my all in one 320, it gets stuck at the windows logo. So I restored it to a restore point from 3 days ago.  I put it to sleep after the restore completed to go to the bathroom. When I returned, it was at the windows logo screen again. After about 30 minutes, the blue screen of death came on and then in a few minutes it restarted itself and is at the windows logo again. Been here this time for like 40 minutes. What should I do?

Hi @paparres,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your All-in-One PC is getting stuck at the Windows logo and experiencing issues like the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and repeated restarts, it suggests there may be a significant issue with the system. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem:

1. Perform a Hard Reboot

  1. Power Off: Press and hold the power button until the computer completely shuts down.
  2. Unplug: Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet and, if possible, remove any external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  3. Wait: Leave the computer unplugged for about 60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect and Power On: Plug the power cord back in and restart your computer.

2. Boot into Safe Mode

  1. Restart and Interrupt: Restart your computer and, as soon as it begins to boot, press the F8 or Shift + F8 keys repeatedly (this might vary depending on your PC).
  2. Select Safe Mode: In the boot options menu, select Safe Mode. If you can boot into Safe Mode, you may be able to troubleshoot further.

3. Use Automatic Repair

  1. Access Automatic Repair:
    • Restart Your PC: Turn off your PC and then turn it on again. As it boots up, interrupt the startup process three times in a row to trigger Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).
    • Choose Troubleshoot: In WinRE, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
  2. Run Startup Repair: Follow the on-screen instructions to let Windows attempt to fix startup issues.

4. Perform a System Restore from WinRE

  1. Access System Restore:
    • In WinRE: Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
    • Choose Restore Point: Select a restore point from a time before the issue started occurring.

5. Check for Disk Errors

  1. Open Command Prompt:
    • In WinRE: Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
  2. Run Disk Check:
    • Type chkdsk /f and press Enter. You might need to confirm that you want to check the disk on the next restart.
    • After running the disk check, restart your PC and see if the issue is resolved.

6. Check for Hardware Issues

  1. Disconnect External Devices: Remove all external devices and peripherals to rule out conflicts.
  2. Test RAM: If you’re comfortable doing so, check if the RAM modules are properly seated. Sometimes, reseating or testing with different RAM can help identify hardware issues.Check Hard Drive: If you have access to another computer, you might use a USB-to-SATA adapter to connect your hard drive and check it for errors.

7. Update or Reinstall Drivers

  1. Boot into Safe Mode: If you can access Safe Mode, try updating drivers, especially for graphics and storage devices.
  2. Device Manager: Open Device Manager and check for any issues with drivers. Update or uninstall/reinstall drivers as needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
